Wedding at Sedona Chapel of the Holy Cross

Anita and Armand were married at one of Sedona’s most breathtaking and visited landmarks, The Chapel of the Holy Cross. The Chapel was built on a twin-pinnacled spur about 250 feet high jutting out of a thousand-foot red rock wall. It is a true architectural marvel. Completed in 1956, only a handful of weddings have taken place at the Chapel. All the creatives that contributed to this wedding felt truly fortunate to have played a part. Our bride and groom are an exceptionally amazing couple. Full of love for family, life and each other. They are both fun loving and share a great sense of humor. There were many laughs and light hearted moments shared throughout the day. Family and friends dined on incredible food, sipped on Dom Pérignon Champagne and danced the night away to the big band sounds of the Hamptons. The beautiful chapel ceremony and wedding reception were perfectly captured by Katrina Wallace and Andrew Mejia of Sedona Bride.

Forest Highlands Wedding

Allison and Tony contacted me about help with their wedding having heard from their friends Jay and Hillary that I had coordinated their Sedona Creekside wedding. They chose as their destination venue Forest Highlands Golf Club in Flagstaff Az. Surrounded by mountains, and ponderosa pine forests it was the perfect location for their beautiful, woodsy, intimate and fun wedding.

It was important to both Allison and Tony that their wedding be intimate and personal, a great experience for their guests and remain true to who they are. Photography was important to them and they went with the awesome duo of Kelly and Sergio who reflected their personalities perfectly. Both Allison and Tony were hands on and created DIY projects that were clever and playful and an expression of their lifestyle. Personal touches included a custom monogram, two whimsical foxes which they used as cake topper, photo booth print outs and tags for the s’mores favors. Their signage included funny hashtags and clever sayings. They also transported from home large navy high back Mr. and Mrs. Chairs for their head table. They struck the perfect balance of rustic and romance in the décor.

With close friends at their sides, many from high school, the day for these long time sweethearts was filled with lots of fun and humor.

Heartfelt vows were said on the green overlooking a lake under a huge grandfather pine tree. Their very best friends stood witness along with their handsome beloved Pomeranians who were dressed to the nines.

Guests were transported after to a meadow lawn for cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres and to play croquet and bocce ball on the expansive green.

Dinner felt like a family affair with a mix of round and rectangular tables surrounded by floor to ceiling windows to view the greens. The king’s table was adorned with running garlands of eucalyptus and flowers. Lots of candlelight added to the atmosphere. Guests were a partying, fun loving bunch and danced the night away.

There was a prescribed burn in the forest on the wedding day, creating smoldering smoke at the resorts entrance. Some might have been upset, but Allison and Tony used it their advantage and with their photographers, Kelly and Sergio ventured into the forest for post ceremony photos in a mystical backdrop.

The Love Story of these two quirky, beautiful humans is best told on their website. Although I must include the last paragraph of this story, in their own words. http://allisonandtony.net/about

“She is truly selfless and puts her pack above all else. Tony, well, he does the impossible, he keeps Allison sane. He eases all her worries and concerns about the dogs. He makes her stronger and confident, whether it be her fear of heights or winding roads, he reassures her. He’s helped her become more outgoing and spontaneous. He keeps her smiling because he is personable and truly hilarious; even when his jokes are ill-timed and inappropriate (which Tony would like to mention is never the case). They are lucky enough to have found their truly better halves in which to share a life with, which is all anyone can ask for.”

Sky Ranch Wedding in Sedona

One of our last weddings of the fall season. This wedding was perfection, A beautiful couple, wonderful family and lovely friends. The heartfelt love and emotion was perfectly captured by thier photographer, Andrew Holman. Thanks to all our talented vendors below that contributed with their skills and love to create Tyler and Samantha’s beautiful wedding day.

From the Bride:

When Tyler proposed to me on top of Baby Bell rock in September 2015, we knew right away that Sedona was where we wanted to get married. With my parents getting married in Sedona, I had always held a special place in my heart for the beauty of its landscape. We both chose to have a smaller, outdoor ceremony so that the amazing red rocks could be fully appreciated! There is truly no other place I can imagine having had my wedding at, and am blessed that we will forever remember how beautiful this day was!

Living in Gilbert, AZ there was initially some concern about how the planning process would work. Without Margaret’s help, I don’t even want to think of how it would have turned out! I had no doubt the entire time that things were going to turn out beautifully. Her communication and precision with details allowed for my mind to be at ease and worry about all the other things a bride finds to worry about! I am so appreciative of all the work that was done to make our wedding day more than we could have ever imagined

Sedona Creekside Wedding

This couple stole our hearts from the beginning of the planning process until the very last dance of their wedding. They were involved, excite and enthusiastic about their wedding and inviting their closest friends and family to join them in beautiful Sedona, AZ for a week end of hiking, sightseeing, food and wine and laughter, with a little yoga thrown in for their community of yoga enthusiasts. The ceremony was held Creekside at the lush Los Abrigados property. The bride and groom DIY’d a beautiful invitation suite, the escort cards and holders and signage.. The highlight for me was that the groom took the time in his welcome speech to personally thank all of his vendors for their exceptional work.

From the Bride:

We met long before professing our love. Dennis is a Bikram instructor, Jennifer a long time Bikram yogi. Our yoga relationship grew into an eight year friendship, and finally into a lifelong partnership after a yoga retreat to Spain in 2015. Dennis is a very big fan of Maynard Keenan, and wanted to go back to Sedona and Jerome, where he had visited many years ago. And so, shortly after our Spain trip, we took a road trip out to Sedona.   We both fell in love with beautiful Sedona and its’ magical surroundings. As wine lovers, we also fell in love with the local wineries. And so when it came time to planning our wedding, we just knew Sedona would be the place.

The planning and the day could not have been more perfect and beautiful because of our planner Margaret. I had so much fun researching and working with Dennis and Margaret to make the vision come to fruition. Being a destination wedding, it could have been so difficult and a disaster, but we trusted the best and never questioned her advice or assurance. The best part of planning was when Dennis and I made a trip prior to the wedding to meet Margaret and all of our vendors she recommended. We immediately felt calm and so very connected with everyone involved in our wedding. At that time, we knew everything was right and that we were in the right place with the right people.   The day itself, of course the best part of the day was seeing one another for the first time. You can’t beat that – planning this day, and that split second you plan so long and hard for suddenly presenting itself.   Nothing else matters at that moment.

Thanks to a great team of the following vendors for helping create a memorable event for Dennis and Jennifer

Sedona Wedding Inspiration

In the office today and deep in the process of spring and summer wedding planning I came across this inspirational and beautiful wedding.

The summer wedding of Caitlyn and Bryan at Creekside Inn is an all time favorite of ours.  They are the sweetest couple ever. They were so much fun to work with and both totally involved in the planning process and details reflecting their great personalities.

They met through mutual friends and after their first date were madly in love. It was the perfect setting, a beautiful day, heartwarming and romantic with all the perfect details. Brides Dress by Pronovias of Barcelona. Bridesmaids wore pale blush dresses from LuLu*s. Guys rocked stylish-trim blue suits. The floral by Events by Showstoppers were lush and to die for. We think these beautiful photos tell the story.

Sedona Monsoon Wedding

The wedding season is winding down in Sedona and it has been a year of many beautiful weddings. The spring was challenging with the very wet weather that we had.

Rain represents many things in different cultures some of which include fertility, cleansing, unity, renewal, and tears, on the positive side.

This superstition tends to have been interpreted by many different cultures, making what we hear today a mixture of many ideas and beliefs!

All brides of course wish for beautiful clear skies and perfect temperature for their day. Abbie and Chris’s wedding looked like it was going to be that perfectly clear day when it began to rain the night before. The weather cleared in the morning and we were all hopeful that the day would continue to be dry. It began rain shortly before the ceremony and continued all evening. With some quick moving about, a back up tent and some incredible vendors the wedding turned out beautiful. The beautiful thing about the entire wedding was the attitude of a very easy and accepting bride and groom who went with the flow, were present in every moment and were totally happy and in love.

The bride wore a fit-and-flair vintage lace wedding dress from the Martina Liana collection. Bridesmaids were in Jenny Yoo Evening Blue gowns.

The estate tables were designed with very long and low garland of greens and seeded eucalyptus, Italian ruscus, ivy, and myrtle, dusty miller, seeded eucalyptus and magnolia.  Floral to include dusty sage green succulents, eryngium thistle, white hydrangea and white Star of Bethlehem The wedding details were personal and lovely. Many were DIY’d by the very talented bride. We loved that Abbie had sewed into the underside of her wedding dress a heart shaped piece of denim from her dad’s blue jeans. It was a very intimate and lovely evening celebrating love with close family and friends.

Cloud Nine-Sedona Wedding

This Sedona Wedding was the kind of perfect intimate wedding we love. With just the bride and groom, it was planned with attention to detail and loving selections by the couple. It was truly magical in the sky above the Red Rocks of Sedona in a bright hot air balloon.

Sharon and Chris first met in May 2009, both fish out of water, at a nightclub of all places.  Chris had just wandered over after a coworker send-off at a next-door eatery and Sharon had just returned to the U.S. that day after living in Europe for three years. They couldn’t have been farther from where they belonged, but fate had crossed their paths and paved a road for a lifetime.

Chris had been collecting Star Wars toys and film memorabilia since his early college days and both he and Sharon shared a love of the Wizard of Oz film since childhood.  Both are avid travelers, Sharon as she climbed the corporate ladder and made inroads around the globe, and Chris chasing down Star Wars toys and movie props from all over the world.  It was Chris’ appreciation of film props and the iconic nature of the ruby slippers that made them a coveted keepsake, instantly recognizable by nearly everyone.

When Chris found the courage to finally tie the knot after a lifetime of bachelorhood, his wife-to-be was just as excited to do it in a way that would be truly romantic and memorable.  Sharon always had the desire to visit beautiful Sedona and when Chris saw that they could not only go on a balloon ride, but actually get married in a hot air balloon the scene was set!  The balloon immediately brought to mind the Wizard of Oz and the chance to procure a pair of ruby slippers for the event was all too perfect.  They found an artist that handcrafted exact replicas that Sharon could not only wear for the occasion, but that they could forever have on display in their new home.

Chris found the perfect size heart lapel pin that he was able to turn into a clock and with the aid of a silver-gray suit and tie; his nod to the tin man was complete.  Sharon wore a cute white dress that was simple and fun for the occasion and would let the shoes shine in all of their glory.  These small touches were just enough to flavor a magical event with a beloved fairy tale and a sunrise wedding high above the red rock desert was going to be as picturesque as one could hope.

From the engagement to the rings to the entire wedding plan and execution, the event was a total secret from everyone they knew.  They mailed special Oz/Sedona inspired postcards to friends and family who would receive the news of the elopement the day afterwards and it worked like a charm.  Everyone was excited for the couple and the ceremony and weather had been perfect.  It was an incredible way to begin a loving life together, filled with adventure and whimsy and, of course, a love of all things nostalgic!

Thanks Margaret Van Damme Van Damme Weddings  Katrina Wallace Sedona Bride Patricia Vega Le Petit Spa de Sedona and Northern Lights Balloons for all getting up very early and having  a great time doing it. Casey and Scott’s Sedona Wedding

It doesn’t get any prettier than the Sedona wedding of Scott and Casey. It was the perfect combination of rustic, romantic and total elegance.

From their photographer Katrina Wallace: “There are days in Sedona where the light is so amazing and we wish there was a wedding; when the sky goes dark and the sun peaks through and creates especially gorgeous dramatic light. Casey and Scott had just that”

The drop dead gorgeous bride was stunning in her Martina Liana Vintage-inspired corded lace gown and custom-made cathedral veil. Shoes by Jimmy Choo. Her bridesmaids were beautiful in soft pistachio colored chiffon- each styled differently. The groom and his men were all dashing in modern Vera Wang grey suits.

The floral created by Bliss Extraordinary Floral was lush, soft and romantic.

Long bare wood feasting tables were filled with an abundance of lush floral in birch containers, Spanish dried moss, vintage ribbed glass mason jars, lanterns and lots of candlelight. Tiny Potted Succulents, hand wrapped in butcher paper tied with a cord and tagged with guest names served as escort cards and favors.

Casey carefully included so many personal and heartfelt details to her wedding. A brooch that belonged to her Nanny was on her bouquet. Also special to Casey was her wedding band that was handed down to her by her paternal grandmother, her Grammy. Casey’s mom did the hand painted Mr. and Mrs. Signs. All the small touches that make a wedding a memorable affair were in this Sedona wedding filled with love, family and friends. The talented team of Katrina Wallace and Andrew Mejia of Sedona Bride beautifully captures this love story here.

Casey and Scott’s love story in the brides own words:

“No one knows exactly how it happens, no one knows exactly why its true but some people are just meant to find each other and someday, somewhere and somehow they always do. Scott and I met on match.com. I had just moved to Boise, Idaho from Fort Myers, Florida for a job opportunity and most importantly to be near my family. I work in the medical field and have crazy hours, so living in a new town and meeting people became a challenge. Scott living over 1,000 miles away in Scottsdale Arizona, also worked crazy hours and was having no luck meeting that special someone. Scott then broadened his search and that is how we met. I was only on match.com for one day; if that is not fate we don’t know what is. I never thought I would meet my future husband online, but sometimes you have to do something you have never done to have something you never had. I knew Scott would forever be my always. (I have that engraved on the inside of his wedding ring. “You will forever be my always.”) Scott proposed on our one-year anniversary on a private jeep tour on the top of Merry Go Round Rock in Sedona.  Sedona has always been a special place for us and that is why we chose to get married there”

Fall Sedona Wedding, II

We could not get enough of this wonderful wedding, the bride and groom, their families and fun loving friends.

We love, love the details that make your day personal and memorable here at Van Damme Weddings. These small touches add charm to your wedding and make your guests feel special.

Daryl and Kyle thought of and included so many personal details in their wedding day. Signage included hand painted wood signs for the specialty cocktail “You’re the Bees Knees”, Hot Apple Cider and GORP table. Initial letters of the bride and groom sat on the guest book table, which held a Polaroid camera for guests to take photos of themselves and tape in the book with their message for the bride and groom. There was a large mirror on an easel to welcome guests to the ceremony. Program cards were handed to each guest coming into the ceremony. Escort cards were held on vintage keys and made it easy for guests to find their table. Daryl took different styled picture frames and inserted photos of places the couple have visited to place at each table. There were also lots of wonderful photos of the couple placed throughout. A basket of warm fleece blankets were available to guests when the evening got chilly.

Congratulations Daryl and Kyle. It was a wonderful day.

Thanks to Matt Simpkins for all the fabulous images

Sedona Perfect Summer Wedding

We love this Creekside wedding. It is filled with family, friends, fun, lots of love and a gorgeous bride and groom. The bride was stunning in her Monique Lhuillier gown. Every beautiful moment was captured by Cameron & Kelly Studio

Samantha and Brenan wanted a wedding with a backyard feel. After looking at several venues they chose the charming Creekside Inn.  Nestled on the banks of Oak Creek, with lush lawns and beautiful old trees, it gave the couple the perfect setting for their wedding day.

Working closely with Samantha for almost a year we created her “backyard wedding” with wood ceremony benches; bare wood estate tables, small bud vases with a variety of flowers that looked fresh picked from the garden. There were so many details that made this wedding personal and charming. Samantha’s super talented friend, Carly Bennett, created a chalkboard menu on an old door and chalkboard sign for the wine barrel bar.

As a surprise for the groom Samantha had her paper designer make a special sign for the Junior bridesmaids to carry that said “Here Comes your Buddy” a nickname that has stuck with the couple since they started dating as “buddies’.

Rather than the traditional wedding cake, the couple had various flavored miniature Bundt cakes. They also had a popcorn table where guests could fill bags with flavored popcorn; the sign read “Poe Corn” Poe the groom’s last name.

The ceremony was held on a shaded lawn near the creek. Guests then enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on the upper patio/lawn. Dinner was held under a clear top tent strung with bistro lights. We were all obsessed with the beautiful tent where the crowd danced the night away.
