Ah, honeymoons. They are the respite newly wed couples look forward to enjoying after a usually very tense and stressful planning period leading up to their big day. Almost every country around the world has done something to attract honeymooners and this has resulted in so many amazing locations that couples often have a hard time choosing just one. Santorini is covered in luscious black sand beaches, steeped in culture, and is also very secluded. The gorgeous Aegean Sea is even more breath taking than it is in pictures and works wonders for relieving stress. The black sand found on the island is actually volcanic soil, which also happens to be ideal for growing grapes. As a result, Santorini has some of the best wines, which can be sampled, in any one of the numerous taverns.
When it comes to history, there are few places in the world to rival the island of Santorini. Ancient Akrotiri is an archaeological site that dates back to the 16th century B.C. It was inhabited by the Minoans until its destruction by a volcanic eruption. Thanks to skilled excavators, enough of the site has been uncovered for visitors to explore. There are frescos, which date back to prehistoric times, original Minoan homes, and ancient pottery to be viewed.
Dining in Santorini is a delight. Calamari, feta cheese, garlic, olive oil, fresh vegetables, meat, and seafood are some of the delicacies honeymooners can expect to see on a menu. There are many restaurants, some of which are full of tourists, others that are off the beaten path but still just as good.
There are several five-star hotels in Santorini, which offer honeymooners all the luxuries they could possibly want. It is interesting to note that most of the five-star hotels are not international chains, but unique establishments dedicated to pleasing their guests.

Wishing you LOVE, PEACE and HAPPINESS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR wherever you are.

Heather and David, San Francisco Bay area residents celebrated their wedding at Sedona Golf Resort this fall. After nine years together, David proposed to Heather at the top of Bear Mountain last year.
Although rain threatened the day, the weather held with enough cloud cover for a beautiful day and lovely images captured by Katrina Wallace and Andrew Mejia of Sedona Bride. Family and friends gathered for a ceremony on the green with Bell Rock as their backdrop. Guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on the patio followed by dinner and dancing.
Heather worked with Margaret of Van Damme Weddings on a classic, elegant décor with Sedona Red Rock feeling. The bride and groom, avid hikers used Sedona trail hikes as their table names. Showstoppers created table floral arrangements in rich fall colors. The beautiful dessert bar co-designed by Van Damme Weddings and Sedona Cake Contour was a taste treat guests enjoyed during the evening. Congratulations Heather and David!

Sarah and Thomas tied the knot at the beautiful Enchantment Resort this fall. The Mississippi born bride and San Francisco groom met at LSU in Shreveport where Thomas is the program director of Ophthalmology. The couple’s love story began when Sarah brought Thomas homemade corn and crab bisque soup while he was recovering from knee surgery. They were engaged one year later in Sedona on the top of Bell Rock. They are romantics who love to travel so Sedona was the perfect venue for their destination wedding. The couple was married in a Native American ceremony preformed by Medicine Man, Uqualla. Guests enjoyed cocktails and Hors d’oeuvre on the Agave Terrace followed by dinner and dancing in the ballroom.

Valerie and Ryan were married at the beautiful Page Springs Cellars Vineyard in October. The couple, wine club members and lovers of great food were excited to have their wedding at the vineyard. The planning process was interrupted when Ryan’s work took him across the country. Valerie then had to concentrate on wrapping up her job in Arizona, pack up and move to North Carolina pick up the planning again in order to get back to Arizona for the wedding. The wedding day was perfect. Guests were transported to the vineyard for the ceremony by the creek. Family and close friends enjoyed a sunny afternoon with great food catered by the Heartline Café and carefully paired wines from the winery. Courtney Yeates and Lindsay Katz -Cellist/vocalist and guitarist provided music. Bliss Floral created beautiful arrangements in brilliant fall colors. Iffy Yossifor captured the day and event planner Margaret Van Damme coordinated the day.

I usually love featuring the latest wedding gowns and sometimes neglect that the grooms also have a look of their own. From snappy bow ties to colorful socks, here are a few looks seen recently around the wedding blogs.
